DESCRIPTION
Aromatic and fruity. Fresh acidity. Already delicious but will become more rounded and complex over the next 5 years. 100% Kernling grape. Kernling is a Riesling crossing with a lot of Riesling character, the pink clone of better-known, white Kerner.
A connoisseur's vintage. 2018 was the best year for this late-ripening variety that we have had in our 32 vintages. The grapes were perfect and fully-ripe at harvest. However the acidity is Riesling-fresh. Because the grapes were so good we decided not to de-acidify the must but allow it to mature and round out in its own time, and the wine is still improving in the cellar. It should be at its peak 2023-25

REVIEW
Sep 2021 - "England 2021 Special Report" - Tom Hewson (published by Tim Atkin MW):
"Rather interesting, quite austere with lime cordial and sage. Slender and quite Riesling-like, with plenty of tangy, limey acidity. 85 points"
